Twenty-six customers and staff at Breen's Bar on Pearse Street in Gorey, spent the month of November growing moustaches or beards, only to have them all shaved off at the beginning of December.

In doing so, they helped raise €3,080 for local charity Talk to Tom.

The Movember event culminated in a night of entertainment at the pub where Maeve Halford and Danielle O'Shea gave the lads back their former clean shaven looks. Proprietor Neil Breen also got his legs waxed on the night, with Nicole Doyle doing the honours, to add to the total funds raised.

Neil said there was a great crowd in for the evening, and they also enjoyed music by Billy and Rod from Aslan.

'We were delighted with how it went,' he said. 'We didn't think we'd raise near as much as we did.'

Particular thanks went to Paul and Clare Heffernan for their help organising the fundraiser, and sincere thanks went to all who took part, and to all who supported them.
